Ninja Nerds!

In this lecture Professor Zach Murphy will be teaching you about the lumbar plexus in great detail. We go over the various branches, and structures that are supplied by the lumbar plexus, in addition to clinical correlations associated with injury to the lumbar plexus.

The plexus is formed by the ventral rami (divisions) of the lumbar spinal nerves L1, L2, L3 and L4. It consists of a network of nerve fibers that supplies the skin and musculature of the lower limb. It is located in the lumbar region, within the substance of the psoas major muscle and anterior to the transverse processes of the lumbar vertebrae.
